Introducing the Mistral Hotel and our new ONE Experience Crete Holiday!

We’re delighted to unveil our brand new ONE Experience holiday to Crete, based as the Mistral Hotel. We’re so excited to have found the Mistral – it is the perfect partner for One Traveller and an ideal destination resort for our guests. Whether your perfect day is spent lounging around the pool, going out to explore Western Crete’s most beautiful beaches, joining excursions with your fellow travellers or simply wandering on your own, we believe the Mistral is the ideal place to enjoy a holiday and have great company when you want it.

Western Crete and Chania are so accessible 

Before we talk about the hotel and fellow travellers let’s talk about the location. The western end of Crete is quite beautiful. Chania, the main town in the west (and Crete’s second biggest city after Heraklion), is an old medieval Venetian port with a lovely waterfront and lots of tavernas. It has some good boutiques and souvenir shops and is known for its craft jewellery. 

Chania also has a small, modern airport. The Mistral is a 45-minute drive away, in Maleme, a little inland from a shingle beach. There are more sandy beaches a short stroll away.  

What’s so special about the Mistral Hotel? 

The Mistral has only 35 rooms. Each room features a double bed but is designed exclusively for single occupancy. The hotel has two pools to sit around, one fresh water, the other salt water. 

The Mistral is so sociable! The beating heart of the hotel is the Mistral bar, open from 11.00 until late (and some nights very late). It’s alongside the main pool, a very welcoming place where guests drink together and think together. It’s the perfect place to relax and share stories of your day’s adventures with like-minded fellow travellers. 

Enjoy fabulous Greek cuisine with your fellow travellers 

As any solo traveller will tell you, the worst thing about being by yourself on holiday is having to eat alone. This is never the case on a One Traveller holiday and the Mistral is perfectly adapted for group dining. Your Tour Manager and fellow One Travellers will dine with you each day, and we’ll even take care of the seating arrangements! The Mistral Kitchen serves wonderful Cretan dishes, with many ingredients sourced directly from Adonis’ Garden (Adonis is the manager/owner of the Mistral and the land on which it is built has been in his family for generations).  

These shared culinary experiences enhance your enjoyment of each meal and help you get to know your fellow travellers in a relaxed environment. There’s more, too! Enjoy the sights, sounds and flavours of Greek night at the hotel, with local and national delicacies served, plus costumed dancers, traditional music and opportunities to get involved on the dancefloor yourself! Agis, the resident head barman, will also take you on a colourful and flavoursome journey during his afternoon cocktail tasting session – the perfect way to while away a lazy afternoon in the warm Cretan sun.  

We all know Greeks love their moussaka, and the Mistral kitchen team are rather good at producing these fine dishes for their hungry residents! Enjoy a fantastic final evening at the Mistral with plates loaded high and glasses full, as you celebrate your unforgettable eight-day escape to beautiful Crete!
